“Where’s The Beef ?”

 We’ve had it for years and now we are making it available to you at an affordable price. JOHN HENRY’S believes that knowing where your meat comes from, how it’s processed and by whom, should not be a mystery, it should be expected. The USA is the largest importer of beef.

In 2007 the USA imported 28% of its beef from other countries, followed by Russia which imported 12% of their beef from other countries. This means that the beef you purchase at your local supermarket has a 28% probability of being imported from another country. The chances of you getting Michigan beef even become slimmer when you realize that Michigan produces about 90,000 beef animals per year. This is about 1/3 of the beef consumed per year.

Where’s the Beef From?

When the slogan came out “where’s the beef?” they left out the word “from”. Well JOHN HENRY’S put the word “from” back in the phrase, and that’s not all, we’ve also answered the question. The best locally Michigan grown beef is at JOHN HENRY’S located in Millington, Michigan. “All natural”, No hormones or antibiotics.  All our beef is grass fed on pasture all summer long and they are fed hay and silage in the winter months. We have a barn that they can go into if the weather is bad but they prefer to stay outside most of the time.                   JOHN HENRY'S fresh meats contain no artificial tenderizers, coloring or preservatives. We cut and package all our own meats in our USDA inspected kitchen to ensure the utmost care is taken.

Beef For Your Freezer

Speak directly to our butcher Rocky about your beef and how you would like it cut.

All cuts are approximate and are based on a small beef. You can elect to have some of your sirloin steaks or round steaks cut into shaved sizzle steak or fajita meat.

You can also elect some of your roasts to be ground or cut in to stew meat. T-Bone and Porterhouses can be substituted for NY Strips and Filet Mignons. Steaks can be any thickness you wish.

The meat will be wrapped in white freezer paper and frozen. Ground beef will be in 1 lb. clear plastic bags. All weights are approximate according to the animal size.
